Edinburg bounced back with two runs in the bottom of the fourth. It looked as if Edinburg was going to have a big inning as North walked three, gave up a single and Rappahannock made an error, but North struck Bobby Drummond out on a nasty curve ball with the bases loaded to end the inning.
Edinburg got the final run of the game in the bottom of the fifth. With one out, Jimmy Harper singled, stole second and third, and scored on a ground out. The Monarchs were saved from a potentially disastrous inning by some fine defensive plays. Parker went deep in the shortstop hole to field a ground ball and fired to second baseman Brian Hackley who caught Edinburg’s Jamie Walters too far off the bag. North helped himself by picking Barry Orndorff off first base to end the inning.
