“This will be a challenge for me.” Fourth grade covers Virginia histoiy, and Ms. Boerio has recently taken a class in Virginia history from “Paleo Indian” times through the pioneers.
John Glass will be teaching kindergarten. This is the first time the school has had a man teaching really young children.
He said he wanted to teach kindergarteners because “I like to play.” In a more serious vein he said, “The most important things that are taught are taught at the earlier stages.”
He had three months experience as a substitute in kindergarten in West Virginia. After graduating from Brigham Young University he taught third grade in Idaho for one year and taught religion and life skills at a private school working with a public school in educating moderately to profoundly mentally handicapped students.
Ed Rissler will be teaching seventh grade science, but he will also teach one section of reading and spelling and one section of social studies. He has many years of teaching experience but all with older students.
He comes to Rappahannock following nine years teaching chemistry at Warren County High School. Before that he spent two years working in Somalia developing curriculum
