Sherry Haffer will have a special education class of eight seventh graders with learning or emotional disabilities. She also comes from Warren County after 10 years at the high school there. She said she will try team teaching science with Mr. Rissler.
She is very excited about teaching in Rappahannock County. “It is like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz,” she said. “Coming over the mountain is hiarvelous. It’s like going over the rainbow.” She said she is particularly impressed with the “marvelous community, parent and administrative support for education” in Rappahannock County. “I’m really happy to be here. I’m honored to have gotten the position.”
Joy Rollins will be teaching general music and chorus at RCES. She has lived in the Amissville area for 10 years. Two years ago she and her husband built a house off Battle Mountain Road.
For the past 17 years she has been teaching music in Frederick County and commuting from Amissville for the past 10 years. With a five-year old and an infant son, she decided she needed to look for a job closer to home.
She is planning to have a chorus for sixth and seventh-grade students* that will meet for an hour twice a week. She also plans a similar chorus for fifth graders. Besides that she will
