In Flint Hill
Currently on view through Nov. 10 at The Flint Hill Public House are new art works by award winning artist Carol Vogel.
A variety of subject matter in pastel, graphite, and charcoal media is presented. Portraits executed in pastel and graphite are displayed in the entrance lobby. The main dining room is home to two charcoal character study portraits. The other pieces on view present a very different and varied handling of subject matter. “Antiques and Old Lace” has taken first place in recent art shows.
Ms. Vogel resides in Slate Mills. She serves as director of Shimmering Meadows Farm Studio, a fine art school that conducts art painting workshops and classes in association with The Art League School of Alexandria. The Flint Hill Public House, a former school building dating back to 1903, now houses a country restaurant, pub, and inn. Proprietors and chefs John and Denise Pearson operate the facility which is open for lunch and dinner daily. Brunch is served on Sunday and the facility can accommodate up to 150 guests for conferences, meetings, and special events. The Blue Ridge Mountains serve as a backdrop to the lovely rose, flower, and herb gardens that surround this charming and historic building. The Flint Hill Public House is located on U.S. 522 in Flint Hill.
