Both those who support VDOT improvements and those who oppose them had come out for the supervisors' public hearing on the sixyear secondary road plan. , Robert Moore, VDOT resident engineer in the Warrenton office, said tyie purpose of the hearing was to hear from the citizens so the supervisors can decide which improvements to keep in die plan, which improvements to add to the plan, and which to drop. » He said an example of an improvetbent dropped from the plan is the proposal for Route 630 near Foster’s packing house. ’ Because of citizen opposition to VDOTs proposal, Mr. Moore said, "At this time it is put in storage or essentially stopped." 1 He said VDOT would have about $600,000 to spend on improvements to Secondary roads in the county in the Current fiscal year, and that is about the Same amount there has been for the past several years. * Mr. Moore said since the plan was last adopted in 1995 the department had received several requests for improvements to roads and bridges as a result of flooding. J Route 601 between routes 707 and 002 was one of the new requests, he explained. "It floods frequently," Mr. Moore said.
