Joy Sloane said VDOT should get a round of applause for work following Hurricane Fran. "When I looked at my road after the flood, I thought it would be a month before I got out of the hollow," she said. "There were fish swimming in the road big enough to keep," but VDOT had the road opened by Sunday.
VDOT will bring its recommendations for the revised six-year plan to the December supervisors meeting for the members to vote on.
Earlier the supervisors learned that projects to clean up portions of streams damaged by Hurricane Fran are in process. County Administrator John McCarthy said the county would only be responsible for 9 percent of the cost since the state would be picking up 16 percent. The other 75 percent is covered by the federal government.
