The date of the monthly Singing and Pickin party held at Salem Fire Hall here on Route 522 has been changed from this month, July 31 and will be held Aug. 7 at 7 p.m. Mark your calendars now for an enjoyable time of fellowship, singing and pickin and plenty food which is always available by the fire department. There is no admission charge to the party.

Mr. and Mrs. Shelvy Frazier accompanied by Mrs. Alvin Atkins of Sperryville were in Winchester on Friday to attend funeral services for their cousin, Mrs. Beulah Jenkins Alger at Omps Funeral Home and burial following in the family section of Mt. Olivet Cemetery near Nain, Va. While in Winchester they visited their aunt Mrs. Nettie Corbin, a resident at Welcome Haven Home and also Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Kelchner on Route 50 and Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Dodson on Paper Mill Road. Mrs. Atkins was an overnight guest
