Starfish program
Ellen Neill-Dore passed out application forms and gave a brief overview of the Starfish mentoring program led by Lois Manookian and Judy Tole. Open to serving all youth in the county, the program will rely upon volunteers to serve as role models and provide guidance, leadership and emotional support to participants. Social services specialists and school guidance counselors recommended the children who will participate in the program. The first group of 20 mentors are expected to complete their orientation and training program by Oct. 15.
