Headwaters is to be complemented on its initiative
in facilitating a $200,000 grant from the
Greve Foundation and the formation of the Greve School Council and the Starfish, Mentoring Program.
The council is focusing its efforts toward providing “a learning environment” to better prepare students for the future. It will use the monies for professional training and personal growth of school system employees, encourage effective communication through cooperative efforts, and foster a school climate that supports student and faculty success. The council is holding a meeting Aug. 3, to bring together people interested and involved in managing change within the school system.
The Starfish program will rely upon volunteers to “serve as role models and provide guidance, leadership and emotional support to participants.”
With all Headwaters has previously done to support the county’s school system it seems almost unbelievable that they could have eclipsed their previous efforts — but they clearly have.
