Iof the South’s forgotten Irish Confederates who made up the 6th Louisiana Volunteers, an infantry regiment composed mainly of Irish immigrants from New Orleans. The regiment fought in Gen. Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson’s famous Confederate corps in Virginia, including battles in Front j Royal, Winchester, Kemstown and other locations up and down the Shenandoah Valley.
Noted for its fierce fighting as well as its rowdy behavior in camp, the Irish regiment arrived in Virginia in June
