‘The Full Monty5
to show two nights
RAAC brings you the surprise Best Picture Oscar nominee, “The Full Monty," on July 31 and Aug. 1.
When the steel mills of Sheffield, England begin to close, the line of grim-faced men starts to swell at the unemployment office. In that line are five men, who look no different from the rest — ordinary blokes, some short, some overweight — certainly not candidates for male model stardom. But when the lobby radio starts to play Donna Summer’s disco hit “Hot Stuff,” these five start to tap their toes and strut their stuff in choreographed precision — because they need to make some money. In this thoroughly enjoyable comedy these guys figure there is only one way out of their misery: become male strippers. This low-budget, independent film is now Britain’s all-time box office champ.
