Luke presented the board with a resolution for the vacation of the Old Rock Mills Road. The resolution was adopted. Copies will be posted at the courthouse, on the road and advertised in the newspaper. If no one objects the board may then adopt a resolution for abandonment. If there is objection a public hearing will be held.
The Planning District Nine request for transit funding was denied on the basis that no Rappahannock residents use the regional service.
Stone wall-Hawthorne District Supervisor Robert Anderson, representative to the Rappahannock River Basin Commission, reported that the commission will receive state funding for river clean up and is also asking counties bordering the river to allot $1,000 each to help in the effort. Anderson said he felt Rappahannock “needs to be involved in what is going on with the river.” The board approved the allocation.
The fire & rescue bills and accounts were approved.
McCarthy said the amendment before the state concerning the recirculation of leache at the landfill is still a casualty among the backlog of applications currently before the state.
Estes sent a letter to Faith Mountain Company on behalf of the board thanking that • company for its participation in the Northern Virginia Escapes program which promotes regional tourism.
The board’s evening ses~ sion was canceled. The public - hearing on code amendments for fire and rescue services was postponed to next month.
