Supervisors want public feedback
on school expansion, bond issue
The issue of whether or not to put a school bond
referendum on the November ballot came up at
the board of supervisors meeting Monday. Jackson District Supervisor Ron Frazier had requested the item be added to the agenda and urged other board members to vote for the referendum.
Frazier has a point when he says that the board needs more participation from county residents in its decision making process about funding capital projects for the schools: Putting the referendum on the ballot this November would certainly generate response.
The other board members felt the question of how much the school expansion and other capital projects will cost is one that must be “firmed up” before it goes to a referendum. They have a point. .Why ask for $3 million when you may only need $2 million? The supervisors are asking people to get involved. They want input from the public. Give it to them.
