Democratic committee to meet

First Thursday open jorum on RCES
Come and bring a friend to the next meeting of the First Thursday Education Support Group on Thursday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Rappahannock County Library. Rappahannock elementary teachers and administrators will present and discuss the latest changes and challenges at the school. Depression screening day set
Rappahannock Family Guidance Services will be providing free depression screening at the clinic on Oct. 8 from 2 to 7 p.m. for National Depression Screening Day. For more information call 675-3329 or stop by the clinic in the Clopton House on Gay Street in Washington.
Meditation group forming
A beginners class is now forming at the Rappahannock healing Arts Center for meditation. The classes will be led bv Joe Johnson, an experienced meditator. The classes are free but participants are encouraged to make a donation to the center. They will be held on Thursdays from 7 to 8 p.m. beginning Oct. 1. For information call 923-4614 after 6 p.m.
Benefit auction planned
An auction sponsored by the Amissville Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad will be held on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 6 p.m. For information call Paul Poling at 937-5205.
Flu shots scheduled
The following dates have been set for flu shots at the Rappahannock County Health Department: Tuesday. Oct. 6 from 9 to 11 a m ; Friday. Oct 16 from 9 to 11 a m.; Thursday, Oct. 22 from 3 to 6 p.m and Monday Oct. 26 from 11 to 12 noon. The Oct. 26 date will be at the senior site. Cost is $10 and shots will be given at the Rappahannock Health Department at 491-A Main Street in Washington. For more information call 675-3516.
Fall festival planned
The Rappahannock Senior Nutrition Center will be having a Fall Festival on Saturday. Oct. 3 at the Old Schoolhouse in Washington on Mt. Salem Avenue. The festival will be from 9 a m. to 3 p.m.. and will feature door prizes, homemade baked goods, crafts, white elephant sale, silent auction, donations by local businesses and merchants and many other items. All proceeds to benefit the senior citizens of Rappahannock.
