A Rappahannock native, Gilkey has been active ip many facets of the community through out her life. She is perhaps best known for her volunteer efforts. She is presently the treasurer for the Chester Gap Volunteer Fire Department and assists the fire department with fundraisers. Right now they are busy making apple butter for their annual sale which should start around the iast week in October. She also works full time at Faith Mountain Company and if you’ve been by there lately you will likely have seen her handiwork.
