Tepper credits Light for careful planning down to the details and for doing everything that nobody else volunteered to do. “He did the landscaping [around the town’s sign) all himself. He laid the stone and planted the plants.”
Light, on the other hand, credits fellow members of the Lions Club, including Tepper, and a long list of others for making the festival possible.
Senator Charles Robb stopped by the Woodville Bicentennial and observed that such celebrations “bring towns, communities, and regions together.”
Syndicated columnist James J. Kilpatrick sat briefly in the Headwaters booth, autographing copies of his booklet Letters to Heather. In the guise of loving wisdom dispensed to granddaughter Heather, Kilpatrick wrote a series of columns in the 1970s and 1980s that underscored his love of living and learning in Rappahannock County.
Pausing between signatures, Kilpatrick said: “This [gathering] is much larger than I thought it would be.;. I love coming back to these hills.” Kilpatrick now lives in Washington D.C.
