At the September meeting of the Rappahannock Fire and Rescue Association the following officers were*elected: Bertha Armel, Washington, president; Bradley Williams, Chester Gap, vice president; W.E. Bywaters, Flint Hill, secretary; H.S. Barksdale, Flint Hill, treasurer; Paul Poling, Amissville, chaplain. Amissville Ruritan Club members viewed slides of wild game hunting in North America, presented by Arvid Benson, at the Sept. 19 meeting of the club. Benson is the eleventh person to bag every kind of wild game in North America.

Thursday, Sept. 29, 1988

Scotty Updike was among the Rappahannock County representatives at the statewide 4-H competition at the Virginia State Fair, and brought home a state championship for his lamb. It is the second major award won by Scotty this summer, who took Grand Champion honors for his Black Angus heifer at the Culpeper-Madison-Rappahannock Farm Show.
