There were some questions about why a “middle school” addition had not been considered for the elementary school with a smaller addition at the high school. Dr. David Gangel, superintendent, answered saying that they had looked at the issue and did not pursue it further after finding that two additions would put the project total at a much higher cost. McKissick verified that statement, saying the cost for additions at both schools and the still necessary renovations at the high school would run in the neighborhood of $4.5 million. With the current plan, he said, the county gets the space it needs at a more affordable cost.
