A farmer who rotates his cattle periodically in practicing pasture management is Gray Armistad. However, some of the springs on his Amissville property were drying up and with a shortage of grass, he decided to move many of his cattle to a property in Sperryville with plenty of water. He began feeding grain and hay to keep the calves and cows in-good conditidb, he said.
Harold Scoggin, a Harris Hollow farmer, said the springs he uses to water his cattle have been slowing down for several weeks. “Some have stopped running completely,” he said that the grass is practically gone, and he has been feeding his cattle for several weeks.
