During the 1998-99 school year, Hearthstone School is offering a wide range of classes available to the community. These include class offerings during school hours for area home-schoolers to extend their studies, as well as after school classes for both children and adults. Enrollment is still being accepted for home schoolers interested in classes during school hours and for the after school classes that have already begun.
One of the dilemmas that the home-schooling parent faces is how to provide activities that give the child opportunities for social development and group interaction. The classes available for home schoolers meet between 1 and 3 p.m. Classes at the lower school (grades 1-5) include violin, recorder, Spanish, Latin, handwork (knitting, sewing, etc.), watercolor painting, choir, crafts, cooking, and math games.
