Sandra Oliver of Amissville, a junior at Rappahannock Count High School, attended the National Young Leaders Conference in October in Washington, D.C. This unique leadership development program invites high school students, chosen on the basis of their scholarship merit, community involvej ment and leadership experiences, to interact with today’s national leaders.
Students had the opportunity to meet with leaders in Congress by spending the day at the Capitol. The Honorable David Skaggs (DColo) greeted the students on the floor of the House of Representatives, and honor usually reserved for members of Congress or their special guests. Students sat in the same seats as their representatives and filled the same chamber where the State of the Union is given.
