The Bike Stop of Culpeper donated $500 to the Rappahannock Recreational Authority for the new multipurpose rollerblading, skate boarding and biking area at the Rappahannock County Park outside of Washington. This donation brings the total amount raised so far to $2,000, with $500 donated through the efforts of young skate boarders, $500 from the Town of Washington and $500 from the Board of Supervisors. The goal is to raise $4,000 and to dig the gravel bed before winter, letting it harden from the freezing and thawing over the cold months, followed by paving the area in the spring. All the money needs to be in hand in order to start the project. Donations can be sent to the RCRFA, Zoning Administration Office, Washington, Va. 22747, earmarked for the skate park.
The Bike Stop has been supporting the development of recreational facilities and activities for 15 years. They sponsor a Bike Riding Club from April to October which consists of Wednesday night rides for beginners (five to .10 miles) and intermediate riders (30 miles).
