In a brief Palm Sunday ceremony, the Trinity Church Garden Guild turned over the first clod of earth to symbolize the beginning of what will eventually be a lovely new garden on the Middle Street side of the church.
It is the aim of the Guild to transform the present eyesore into an area of beauty and tranquility in the heart of the village and a source of pleasure to all who pass by or through it.
The garden was designed by Washington, D.C. landscape architect Florence Everts who was also responsible for the small garden in the garth, begun in late 1977. Construction will be by Mike Garrett and lighting will be undertaken by Peter Kreyling. Susan Hager has agreed to install the plantings.
The new garden will run from the front door of the church on Gay i Street to the back door adjacent to the parking lot. The whole will be
