ojaservbd at the United Methodist Church in Amissville on April 1 with a special service at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome. On April 2, all children from the community are invited to color Easter eggs at the United Methodist Church from 10 until 11 a.m. These eggs will be hidden during their annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 3 beginning at 2 p.m. Be sure to bring a basket or container to gather eggs on the church grounds. There will be prizes in each age group for the child who finds the most eggs and there are special eggs with candy or money inside! Like the U. S. Marines, the Rappahannock County High School Athletic Boosters are looking for a few good men! Fathers are needed to play in a benefit basketball game against boys from Rappahannock County High School’s Varsity and Jr. Varsity teams. The date and time has not been scheduled. Come on guys, dust off those high tops and call Calvin Atkins at 987-8367, Monte Clinedinst at 987-9625, Cheryl Taylor at 987-8026, or Mike Tupper at 987-8575 to sign up. Parents are reminded one last time that Culpeper County Public Schools will be closed for spring break on Friday, April 2 through Monday, April 5. However, schools will also be closed for a Professional Workday on Tuesday, April 6. Students and staff will return on Wednesday, April 7. Have a great break! Rappahannock County Public Schools will be closed Friday, April 2 through Monday April 5 to observe their spring holiday. Let’s hope the weather cooperates so you can enjoy your mini vacation. The Amissville United Methodist Church will hold its Sunrise service Easter morning at 5:30 a.m. at the church. Everyone is invited to attend and stay for the breakfast which will follow the service.
Easter Sunrise service for Jeffersonton Baptist Church will be held on Sunday, April 4 at the Hillcrest Cemetery on Route 229 at 6:30 a.m. Breakfast will follow the service at the Jeffersonton Community Center. Amissville Baptist Church will hold Easter Sunrise service on Red Oak Mountain on Sunday, April 4 beginning at 5:30 a.m. Everyone is invited to participate. Rappahannock County Elementary School’s Book Fair will be April 13-19. The book fair is held in the library and everyone is invited to participate. The proceeds will help buy new books for the library. Christmas in July? For a few children in need it may well feel like Christmas. The Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office is promoting this program to assist needy boys and girls in attending a camp this summer. Due to the outpouring of love and donations for their Christmas “Shop With a Deputy Program” the Sheriff’s Office exceeded their goal. A request from a donor for the excess funds to be used for a summer program prompted the idea. While some funds are available, more is needed to send a goal of 20 children to camp.
