Well, it is that time of year again! Time to participate in the

Trash Free Rappahannock Program, and I cannot begin to tell you what a wonderful experience this is, what with the piles of wet used tires along back roads, the many rusted and jagged cans, broken glass which cuts right through those gloves, rain soaked paper that must be picked up in many small pieces, the smelly used diapers, endless cigarette butts, well, you get the picture.

Can we ask just one small favor, though? Before you pitch that empty beer bottle full of urine out of the window can you please put the cap back on it, it usually ends up down the front of my five year old when she picks it up for you.

Also, the person that pitches the bag of used diapers on Water Street in Sperryville, did you stop to think that if you had put those used wipes in the bag with the dirty diapers, then my husband would not be over at the Coop right now buying a new pair of gloves?

What about the endless stream of cigarette butts on Main Street in Sperryville? If everyone would throw their cigarette butts in just one neat pile, then we could rent a back hoe and
