Oscar Wilde’s scintillating comedy, “An Ideal Husband,” comes to The Theatre at Washington on Saturday, April 10 at 8 p.m., and Sunday, April 11 at 3 p.m., in a lavish production by the Fauquier Community ' Theatre.
The brilliant Irish writer Oscar Wilde is probably best known for his plays “The Importance of Being ► 2 Earnest” and “Lady Windermere’s Fan.”
But recently “An Ideal Husband,” which is set in London’s high society in 1895, has enjoyed extended rims on the stages of New York and London. Wilde’s ability to expose social and political hypocrisy, with devastating wit, resonates with today’s audiences in the same way as it did with theatre-goers at the end of the . last century.
