Fundraiser planned
The Rappahannock County High School Athletic Boosters are looking for a few good men! Fathers are needed to play against a team made up of high school boys Varsity and Jr. Varsity basketball players in a benefit basketball game. This game is hosted by the Athletic Boosters with proceeds going to the athletes. Organizational start-up meeting set
The Rappahannock County Citizen’s Advisory Council will have an organizational startup meeting on Friday, April 9 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Washington fire hall. The Sheriff’s Office is seeking interested citizens to serve as representatives of the following communities to participate in this important communications project: Chester Gap, Huntly, Flint Hill, Washington, Sperryville, Gid Brown/Harris Hollow, F.T. Valley, Slate Mills/Round Hill/Scrabble, Woodville, Amissville/Viewtown, Rock Mills/Shade/Tiger Valley, Laurel Mills/Castleton and Ben Venue/Massie’s Corner.
Local artist’s work on display
The colorful contemporary paintings of Rappahannock artist Hans Wolfram Gerhard will be on display at the Old Sperryville Bookshop through April. Mr. Gerhard, of Slate Mills, was bom and educated in Germany. He trained as an artist in Germany and later at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C. Since 1987, he has worked on the restoration of his Hughes River Farm, where he has a studio. His moderately priced small paintings on paper are on sale at the bookshop.
