Blue Moon Cafe was built on the ashes of a barbecue joint in Sperryville, and was an immediate hit as a replacement for the old Washington community center. It's been a starting place for Everything, Stick 'Em Up, Lean & Mean, Psycho Billy, The Day Care Swindlers and a renewal spot for Paul Reisler, the OK's, The Mystery Band, Blues Fuze.
Next door to the Blue Moon Cafe, the Mountainside Market has served well as an eatery and hangout for local musicians and writers and photographers, for visitors, for new and old hippies, and for just about anyone else who wanders west on US 211.
A little bit further west, Ben Jones (who played Cooter in "Dukes of Hazzard") and his wife Alma opened up Cooters—a "Dukes" museum and gift shop, and a great spot
