The sights, sounds, songs and stories of the Civil War will return to the historic village of Sperryville this Saturday and Sunday as uniformed re-enactors, musicians, authors and artists gather for the third annual , Sperryville, Civil War Days,
r The annusd:.jnbcihi>iimo^^^ the war that engulfed Virginia in the 1860s will feature drills and demonstrations by Confederate and Union re-enfictors, songs of the era played by Civil War musicians, and authors discussing and signing their books about the war. The events are free and open to the public both days from - 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sperryville was a crossroads village that saw major encampments and movements of armies from both the North and South during the war. Re-enactors will camp in the village, while street vendors will line its old Main Street where soldiers once marched.
Among the uniformed groups participating will be the Old Dominion Rifles of Company H, 17th Virginia Infantry, a Confederate unit, and the Union re-enactors of the 7th Maryland Infantry. The two groups and others will perform drills and weapons demonstrations and conduct a skirmish on Saturday afternoon about 3 p.m.
