The Rappahannock Hunt will once again offer summer trail rides. The ride on Sunday, June 3 will be held at Birmingham in Culpeper at 10 a.m. and on Sunday, June 10 at Mont Elery at Castleton at 10 a m.

Help needed for carnival

Cotillion hosts open house
The National League of Junior Cotillions, Culpeper Chapter has scheduled an open house parent reception for the upcoming 2001-02 season of dances/etiquette classes and balls. The reception will include informative displays and presentations and give parents an opportunity to meet and speak with advisory board members and the director.
The reception will be held Sunday, June 3 from 3 to 4 p.m. and located at the Aberdeen Bam, Holiday Inn, Culpeper. There will be light refreshments served, and informative displays and presentations given. Several members of the group are from Sperryville and Flint Hill and anyone desiring additional information should call the Culpeper Chapter Junior Cotillion at 937-8959.
“Dog Day Afternoon ” planned
Rappahannock Animal Welfare League (RAWL) presents the first “Dog Day Afternoon” Saturday June 2 (rain date Sunday June 3) from 12 to 5 p.m. at Windsor Lodge Farm in Flint Hill. Admission $5 (children 12 and under free).
“Join us for a family fun day featuring doggie demos and contests: Terrier Races, “Tongue in Cheek” Dog Show, Agility Fun Runs, Working Dog Demos and more! Come meet the RAWL dogs available for adoption. We look forward to seeing you with your well behaved dog on a leash,” said an organizer. For more information call 636-3308.
Flint Hill sets carnival dates
The Flint Hill Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company's annual fireman’s carnival has a new date and also new rides for this year. The dates are June 13-16. Virginia Premier Events will provide the rides. Anyone interested in helping with the carnival may call the firehouse, 675-3286.
This weekend at Blue Moon
Jambo, featuring Dontez, Smiggy and Bill Abernathy from The OK’s will be performing on Friday, June 1 at Blue Moon Cafe just west of Sperryville.
Pre-school opportunity
If you have children aged 0-5, please plan to visit the “Central Courtyard and Butterfly Garden” at RCES on DARE/Field Day, Friday, June 1 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be many agencies and teachers on hand to answer questions that you may have about your pre-school aged child. There are many services available to pre-schoolers and their parents that often seem to be “well-kept secrets”. Volunteer Mrs. Barbara Adolfi is helping to plan this event. Queen contestants sought
Amissville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company is now seeking contestants for their annual Carnival Queen, ages 1320; Jr. Miss, ages 8 to 12; Little Miss, ages 3 to 7 and Little Mister, ages 3 to 7. For information call Sandi Carter at 9374218. The carnival will be held June 27-30.
