The cost of treatment and services for children and families who may require community support when they are older far exceeds the cost of prevention and early intervention. Effective prevention programs support families in raising their children. These programs promote the safety and well being of children and families and hold potential for greatly increasing academic success and emotional growth.
Some programs are designed to provide support for young parents to learn how to encourage the emotional and physical development of their young children. Other programs aim to identify children who may have some developmental delays and provide services to help a child achieve his/her potential.
