William Leftwood of Hillsville, Va., near Fancy Gap is opening the Swiss Chalet Restaurant and Motor Court near Sperryville. He expects to feature a Sunday buffet.
The Amissville Ladies Auxiliary Marching Unit placed second in the Culpeper Firemen’s parade on Thursday night. Marchers included Lou Ann Flock, Elsie Cooper, Edith Hackley, Louise Smith, Barbara Williams, Mrs. Robert McLean, Hester Poe and Nancy Settle.
On June 3 and 4, Sperryville Boy Scout Troop 65 will be the host to 12 other scout troops and leaders at the spring camporee to be held on the property adjoining the new pond of C.E. Johnson Jr. in Jenkins Hollow. The Sperryville troop is the newest in the county and was therefore asked to be host for the camporee. They expect about 150 boys.
Saturday was the last day of the annual May Rummage Sale sponsored each Friday and Saturday by the Ladies Auxiliary to the Washington Fire Company. About $400 was realized during the month from the articles sold.
Over one hundred attended the RCHS prom in the spacious new auditorium Friday evening at the high school. P. Lee Thornton III acted as Emcee for the evening.
