On Saturday morning, at 10 a.m. members of the Blue Ridge Civil War Round Table and re-enactor units will hold a formal dedication of a new historic marker erected in the village, marking the place where the Union Army of Virginia under Maj. Gen. John Pope was organized and headquartered in the summer of 1862. The marker is on Route 522 near the Reynolds Baptist Church. The public is invited to witness the dedication ceremony.
