One of the county’s new programs is Healthy Families of Rappahannock County. This is a home visitation program that supports “Expectant Moms and New Moms and their families”. Every new parent has questions and worries about how to care for a young child. Healthy Families helps answer those questions and provides information that is helpful in raising healthy children.
Healthy Families is able to offer these services free of charge. Established in September 2000, Marsha Thompson is the Family Support Worker who can answer questions, calm fears, or just listen. She provides the family with up-to-date information on ways to create a stronger parent-child relationship, promote school readiness and promote healthy childhood growth development.
