staying on the force beginning in their third year of employment. The plan provides for a pay increase of five percent in the third year, four percent in the fifth year, and three percent in each of the tenth, fifteenth, and twentieth years and will hopefully, according to Sheriff Sherertz, result in better retention rates for Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Deputies. He also sought funding for the Law Enforcement Officers Retirement Supplement (LEOS) that would enable deputies to retire five years earlier, and that would cost the County an additional $45,000 or so per year. There is no funding in the draft budget for the LEOS program. V*. The last to speak was Cort Durocher, President of RAWL, who sought $45,000 of their $75,000 budget from the County for “contracted care of animals.” The draft budget included $26,400 for this line item, a doubling of the budget for the current year, and Mr. Durocher expressed his satisfaction with that amount.
