This response reminded me yet again of how much our children are influenced by what they see and hear and how much of it they retain, something that I believe we adults tend to forget.
Our children are surrounded, some would say assaulted, by a whirlwind of potential influences. Whether they’re watching a TV show, a movie, or just paying attention to your dinner conversation, you can bet that they’re soaking up what they’re hearing and seeing like a sponge. As parents, we owe it to our children to ensure that they are exposed to the best possible influences. We are in a unique position in that we can, if we choose, control what our kids see and hear and thus ensure that the influences they are subjected to are indeed positive. Part of what we control includes our own personal actions, which leads me to the Parent Teacher Organization.
