Tennis championships set

The Fauquier County Tennis Championships sponsored by Allen Real Estate Company LTD and Chestnut Forks Athletic Club have set championship dates. Men's Doubles A, B and C will be held Aug. 2-5. Mixed Doubles A, B and C will be held Aug. 15-19, entry deadline Aug. 13.

Singles and Mixed Doubles Finals with a complimentary picnic beginning at noon will be held on Aug. 19. The tournament is open to all residents and employees of Fauquier, Culpeper and Rappahannock Counties For more information call 347-0823.

Carnival at Brandy Station

The Brandy Station Volunteer Fire Department will host their annual fund raising event Aug. 8-11. Inners Amusements will once again be providing the midway and will have over 14 rides for both the young and older ages. This is a very special year for the Brandy Station Volunteer Fire Department because it marks their 50th anniversary.

A family night will be held Wednesday with a special ride price. The firemen's parade will be held on Thursday beginning at 6:30 and led by the newly crowned Miss Virginia. A matinee will be held on Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. The carnival grounds are located just off of 15/29 in Brandy Station on State Route 685; which is Fleetwood Heights Road.

A gala international season set

The Community Concert Association of this seven-county area proudly announces the 2001-2002 subscription series of professional attractions for its 32nd season presented at Culpeper County High School.

Opening night will be Friday, Oct. 5 and will feature London’s Passadena Roof Orchestra with showband music of the 20s 30s and 40s. On Saturday, Nov. 17, USA's Alison England, soprano/comedienne performs Opera, Broadway and Beyond.

Jurys Irish Cabaret from Dublin will delight the audience with songs, dance and laughter on Feb. 6 and Alborado, The Batista Family Andean Show will perform with 30 different instruments on Friday, March 1. The grand finale, A Festival of Four on April 18 features a flutist from Chile and three guitarists in flamenco, folk and classical music.

Warren County pageants set

The Warren County Fair, Front Royal will host the following pageants on Aug. 4 and Aug. 6. Final registration will be July 29.

Fairest of the Fair, ages newborn through four years of age, boys and girts and mother/daughter. These two classes may live within a 50-mile radius.

Little Miss, Jr. Miss and Miss Warren County must be residents of Warren County. Applications may be picked up at Debbie's Ivy Garden, 635-7156 or Warren County Fair office at 635-5827.
