Congratulations
C-M-R Farm Fair proved to be
successful for county 4-Hers
Over thirty Rappahannock residents participated
in the Culpeper-Madison-Rappahannock Farm
Fair 2001 and should be congratulated for their achievements last week.
Special recognition goes to Katie Updike, who went out with a bang for her last year of competition! She won Grand Champion Market Steer, Champion Bred and Owned Steer, Champion Heavy Weight Steer, Champion Medium Weight Steer, first place in Light Weight Market Steers and Champion Commercial Heifer Award.
Many of our youngsters took awards and the rewards of their yearlong efforts were evident as we strolled through the barns and around the grounds at the Culpeper Agricultural Enterprise complex last week. They are all to be commended for a job well done!
Mrs. Hazel Zinn-Day, the 4-H adult leaders, parents and supporters of 4-Hers in Rappahannock County deserve the highest praise for their constant encouragement to these children. They spent countless hours working with children and helping them to prepare for the annual fair event.
The 4-Hers were excited about their achievements and are enthusiastic about the programs 4-H has to offer in general. The 4-H program is worthwhile and deserves the support of every county resident. It is especially true in an agricultural community like Rappahannock.
We applaud each and everyone on this year’s accomplishments and extend special thanks to Mrs. Hazel Zinn-Day and her fine team of volunteers for their heroic efforts and acts of love to these — our children.
