The Virginia Commission for the Arts met recently and • approved grant awards totalling more than $4.3 million. A ; total of 443 arts organizations, ■ schools and school divisions, I and units of local government across the state will benefit from funding through several categories.
Grants awarded to Rappahannock organizations included $12,100 to Ki Theatre of Washington for General Operating Support for Arts Organization and $2,300 to Rappahannock Association for the Arts and Community of Washington for General Operating Support ' for Arts Organizations. ■ • General Operating 6upport provides financial assistance to arts organizations for on-going artistic and administrative expenses. The 'program is designed to continue, strengthen, and expand the programs of organizations ef artistic merit. Applicants request a portion of their total Cash income in their most recently completed fiscal year.
Applicants were evaluated Competitively on the basis of ' artistic quality and effective management.
