Deputy
makes two
arrests
Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Deputy J. C. Welch arrested two area men for motor vehicle offenses last week.
Just after midnight on May 15. Dep. Welch stopped Robert J. Woods Jr., 22, of Reva, who was operating a motorcycle on Route 522 at Flint Hill.
Upon running a license check, it was determined that Woods’ driver’s license had been revoked, and that he had been declared an habitual offender. He was taken before a magistrate and remanded to the Rappahannock County Jail.
On May 19 at about 1:40 a.m., Dep. Welch stopped Michael R. Doyle, 38, of Sperryville, for driving 70 mph in a 55 mph zone on Route 622 at Flatwood Court, near Rock Mills.
While interviewing Doyle, Dep. Welch detected the odor of alcohol, and when he was requested to take an “Alco-lizer” breath test, Doyle refused.
He was subsequently charged with DUI and refusal and remanded to the Rappahannock County Jail.
