VPI Fruit Specialists joined growers from Rappahannock and Madison for the weekly meeting held last Wednesday in Captain George Sharp’s orchards. The special series has been going on during April and May and was organized by Rappahannock Extension Agent Rap Owings as an information medium on problems faced in fruit growing operations.

In a photo, Jonathan Bailey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Bailey of Washington was just trying the carnival rides for size Tuesday as workmen put up the rides for the annual fund raising event which continues through Saturday night. Jonathan lives adjacent to the grounds.

Hodge Miller from Washington and David Thornhill from Boston won top honors at the 55th annual Little International Livestock Show presented by the Virginia Tech Block and Bridle Club on April 30. Competing against entries from cattle, swine, sheep and horse categories, Miller won the Grand Championship in fitting and showmanship with his Angus steer. Thornhill won the Championship in the open swine competition.
