I am speaking out for the sake

of our children! Something is terribly wrong with our local school system. I am writing this letter to encourage other parents to tell their personal stories because I believe our schools will benefit at this time if our personal stories are made public.

I am also writing to insist our school board members be strong enough to take appropriate action so that our schools can be considered at least effective, if not excellent. Tbo many highly respected teachers have left our system.

The recent resignation of highly regarded principal, Joe Perine, leaves a wound that shows no apparent sign of healing. The mystery surrounding his resignation leaves me wondering if he was forced to leave because his competence threatened the ineffective status quo. I have no facts, I can only imagine.

It is with great relief that I will have seen two sons through the RCPS system when the Class of 2002 graduates. My (rising first grade) daughter will not attend a Rappahannock Public School until changes are made that support academic excellence. I am writing this letter because I have not given up on the public schools. I urge the schwil board to immediately take the necessary inventory and act in accordance with the needs of an
