Fresh handmade
greens for sale

The Rappahannock County Garden Club will again be taking orders for freshly made “Holiday Greens." The club members themselves make wreaths, swags and garlands from greenery gathered locally.
Call Sally Havstad at 987-9342 by Nov. 30 to place your order. The finished products will be available Dec. 10.
Choose from boxwood wreaths ($17.50), mixed greens wreaths ($16), swags ($25), and garlands of mixed greenery ($3 a foot).
Funds raised are used for local projects and to send Rappahannock children to Nature Camp.
Hikes scheduled
The second Saturday hike series will continue on Saturday, Dec. 14. The hike up Big Devils Stairs is considered moderate-todifficult. Those interested should meet at Mountainside Market, 987-9100 on US 211, west of Sperryville by 8:30 a.m. Bring nourishment for self and layerable clothing according to the weather of the day. Call Hunt at 987-3366 for additional information.
The moon is full on Dec. 18 and a full moon hike will be planned. Dates are likely to be scheduled between Dec. 15 and Dec. 19. There will probably be at least two hikes during that span, and possibly an intensive hikerun. Input and interest are welcomed. Contact Hunt at 9873366.
Taxes due—Dec. 5
2002 Rappahannock County tax bills have been mailed and must be paid on or before Dec. 5, 2002 to avoid a penalty. Failure to receive a bill through the mail does not relieve the taxpayer of any additional charges that will accure under law for failure to pay by the deadline.
