Reiki offered at Healing Arts

Reiki I and II Intensive with Kathy Edwards will be offered on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 7 and 8 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Rappahannock Healing Arts Center.

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. The class is a combination of lecture, discussion and experience. Practice time includes giving and receiving a complete Reiki treatment using all the hand positions, practicing self treatment, scanning others, using the Second Degree symbols and sending Reiki to others at a distance. Former artist to exhibit

Former Middle Street gallery artist Lynnette Nicholas will exhibit recent watercolors at the Bocce Cafe in Scottsville during the month of December. Ms. Nicholas mixes complementary colors, applying layer upon layer to create depth and dimension, distinguishing her from most watercolorists today. The exhibit opens on Sunday, Dec. 1; the artist's reception at the Cafe is on Saturday. Dec. 7, 3-5 p.m. The public is invited.

Yoga until Lilo

Clinic will be open Dec. 4

The Rappahannock Free Clinic, a local operation of the Fauquier Free Clinic Inc., is currently open on the first, third and fifth Wednesdays of each month. The clinic will be open Wednesday, Dec. 4 and not again until Dec. 18. Patient registration is from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Rappahannock Public Health Department Building. Bereavement workshop set

Hospice of the Rapidan offers free bereavement support groups to anyone who has suffered the loss of a loved one. with or without prior Hospice affiliation. A workshop entitled “Coping With Grief: Facing the Holidays When You've Lost Someone You Love" is now forming, designed to help cope with the stressful and emotional situations that can arise during the holidays.

The workshop is scheduled for Monday. Dec. 9 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Hospice of the Rapidan Community Room. Pre-registration is appreciated. County artist to show in Orange

Margo Kren, an artist from Manhattan. Kan., will pair with Rappahannock artist Monica Newell for the next exhibition at The Arts Center in Orange now through Jan. 4. Both artists paint with acrylics and use collage elements, but Kren's work is abstract, while Newell's is figurative. The Arts Center in Orange is located at 129 East Main Street and is open Monday through Saturday. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For information call 672-7311.

LFCC to host holiday open house

Lord Fairfax Community College's Fauquier Campus will host their annual Holiday Open House on Thursday. Dec. 5 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Participants will have an opportunity to meet with representatives from the financial aid office who will explain the various forms of financial assistance available through state and federal grants and scholarship opportunities within the college.

Faculty will be on hand to discuss the college transfer programs and career retraining options for full and part-time students. A representative of the Old Dominion University Telecommunications linkage will also be on hand to present an overview of program requirements and the procedure for transferring.
