Giving thanks
We have only to look around us as we celebrate Thanksgiving this week to realize how much our family and friends mean to us and how fortunate we are to live in this beautiful county. When we sit at our tables to feast on turkey and trimmings on Thanksgiving Day, let us remember those who may not be enjoying the day as we are because they are volunteers working this holiday waiting for a call from any one of us who may have a need. They are the fire and rescue department volunteers who are standing by even as we cook our turkeys and dine at our tables, ever vigilant should we need their helping hand. We wish to thank them not only for today, but for every day of the year that they are out there risking their lives for us and handling our every emergency. The sacrifices they make in their own lives to look after us is immeasurable. Their life is our lives. Hopefully we can give back to them at this giving season with an end of year donation to show our support of their kindness and caring. As we count on them, they count on us for financial gifts to carry on their work. And if you see one of these volunteers as you go about your daily routine in Amissville, Castleton, , Chester Gap, Flint Hill, Sperryville and Washington, perhaps you could shake their hands, or at the very least, say thank you.
