RCHS “Rapp-Up" Reporter
On Nov. 16, the enthusiastic Forensic Team’s coach and sponsor, Mrs. Blubaugh, led the way to the Blacksburg High School Invitational in Blacksburg.
Once there, three students from RCHS competed against other schools by speaking and talking about certain subjects.
Laura Maloney and Erin Opseth performed a twowoman play in the Duo Interpretation category called “He's Mine.”
Mrs. Blubaugh said that they stood back to back as if ready for a gunfight from an old movie, firing out penetrating words instead of cold, hard bullets. As three rounds finally ended, they were unable to make it to the finals but still had competed successfully. Although they weren’t able to go any further, the future looks bright for these young, strong speakers, according to their coach.
Finally, the last entered into the competition was Christina Norwood who showed her love for poetry in the Poetry Interpretation section. Christina read “Ain’t I A Woman” and “ Still I Rise.” After three rounds she was unable to move to the finals but still plans on competing again next month. Congratulations to the team on a job well done and for making our school proud.
