Mabel Brooks

Mabel P. Brooks, 89, of Washington, D.C. died at the Oak Springs Nursing Home in Warrenton on Friday Nov 15.
Born in Rappahannock County on June 21, 1913, she was a daughter of the late Sarah Jackson and Stanley Underwood.
Mrs. Brooks was a retired seamstress from Jellep’s and Woodard & Lothrop in Washington, D.C.
She was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church in Flint Hill. Upon moving to the District of Columbia, she became a member of the Metropolitan Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, Robert Brooks in 1984.
Survivors include a daughter, Blondine Rowe; three grandchildren, Marilyn Rowe, Lester Rowe and Stanley Rowe; one greatgranddaughter; one greatgreat-granddaughter; a godchild, Michael R. Muse and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services were held at the Macedonia Baptist Church in Flint Hill on Saturday, Nov. 23. The Rev. John Pendleton gave the eulogy. Interment was at the Maryland National Cemetery in Laurel, Md.
Dorothy Painter

Dorothy J. Painter, 85, of Front Royal died Monday, Nov. 18 at Heritage Hall in Front Royal.
Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, Nov. 20 at Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal by the Rev. Greg Amos. Burial was in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Painter was born May 12, 1917 in Rappahannock County, daughter of the late Amon and Nora Berry Jenkins.
She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Front Royal. She was the wife of the late Russell Daily Painter.
Surviving are a son, Robert N. Painter of Falling
