The Rappahannock Hiking Club will take its first day-long hike on Sunday, Dec. 4 when the members and Leader Raymond Johnson will set out to climb Old Rag Mountain.

John Brady of Flint Hill has a corner on the turnip market. He tells us he grew a turnip this year that measured 24 inches in circumference and weighed seven and one-half pounds with the tops on it.

The 4-H Club Achievement Night program was held Dec. 3 at Washington Elementary School.

The event will include awards to outstanding members, accomplishments of the clubs during the past year and recognition of 4-H leaders.

Miss Mildred Crawford, International Farm Youth Exchange Delegate to Israel will present a program on life in that country.

Garden Club members are making reservations for their annual Christmas luncheon to be held at Cab Inn in Sperryville on Saturday, Dec. 10. Price is $1.40.

Scott Jenkins has been named the DAR 1 Good Citizen of Rappahannock County High School for 1978. He is a senior at RCHS, selected for his outstanding qualities of leadership, patriotism, dependability and service.
