Both varsity teams also played Highland in Warrenton on Wednesday, with the Girls team winning their game against Highland.
The boys, although they lost the game, managed to come out on top as good sports and gentlemen. Highland, known for playing rough against WCDS, didn't disappoint their detractors, as evidenced by the bruises and black eyes of our athletes.
It is, after all, only a game...
• Thanksgiving is this week, and the members of the Key Club are busily collecting canned goods to be distributed among needy families in Rappahannock County. Giving back to others seems only fair, as we have been blessed this year in so many ways.
I love that this act of kindness begins with our smallest students and continues through to the seniors.

• Latin students from schools around the state left early Sunday morning for Richmond for the Virginia Junior Classical League Convention.
Our students had Mr. Fred Fraser, a part-time Latin teacher at WCDS, as their mentor and chaperone this trip, and I can't wait until they return to find out how it went.
The days are long, but the students come back energized and exhausted at the same time.
Between competitions, dancing, eating, and networking, the conventions are a "Who's Who” of Latin scholars. Stephen Dowell, a senior at WCDS, is an officer again this year, and he was excited to touch base with everyone.
