Holiday closings

The Rappahannock County government offices will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 1 and reopen on Thursday, Jan. 2. The offices will be open on New Year’s Eve.

All Department of Motor Vehicles customer service centers will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 1.

The Rappahannock National Bank will close on Tuesday, Dec. 31 at 2 p.m. and reopen on Thursday, Jan. 2.

The Rappahannock County public school system will reopen on Thursday, Jan. 2.

Dog owners

reminded of tags

Rappahannock County dog owners need to obtain their dog licenses for 2003 no later than Jan. 31. They can be acquired at the Treasurer’s Office on Gay Street, which is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m on weekdays. For questions, call 675-5360.

Deadline for

appeals of

reassessments

County property owners with questions about their reassessments or who wish to appeal the new assessed value of their property have until Jan. 3 to call and set up an appointment to meet with the assessors. The number is 675-5373.

An appeal made after the Jan. 3 deadline will be taken up by the Board of Equalization which will convene early in 2003.

• On Monday, Jan. 6, the Rappahannock Board of Supervisors will meet at 2 and 7 p.m. at the Rappahannock Courthouse.

• On Wednesday, Jan. 8, the Washington Town Council meeting will be held at the Town Hall on Gay Street.

• On Tuesday, Jan. 14, the Rappahannock County .School Board will meet at the RCHS band room.
